KidzStreet Hits Home PDF Print
Today we were blessed with another episode of “KidzStreet”, our monthly Family Worship Experience. I can not express how grateful I am to all those who work so hard to make this production a reality. Most of us have no idea as to the amount of time and effort put into making that 45 minute worship time special and meaningful for our children and their families.

But KidzStreet is more than just a worship time for our children and their parents. It’s part of the overall philosophy that is known as Bringing Faith Home.

I’ll explain a little of how it works.

For the month of February, each Sunday’s Bible class is focused on the subject of Honor. Each lesson is taken from a different time in King David’s life and teaches a different aspect of showing honor to God.

Today’s big KidzStreet production introduces the subject and gets the ball rolling.  Then, each following Sunday, a smaller yet similar Kidzstreet production keeps the overall topic going by adding an additional story.

All this is great for being at church, but what about Bringing Faith Home?  I’m glad you asked.

Each week, every parent is provided 4 special “God Time” cards that have discussion guides to help parents talk to their kids about that week's topic. These discussions are designed to last 10-15 minutes and provide a consistent spiritual reinforcing of that week's subject.

Also each week the parents are given a “Refrigerator” card that tells them that week's topic and the scriptures that were used in class with their children. This also helps the parents become a part of the spiritual conversation with their children.

Our goal is to partner with the parents to help them take their God-given place as the primary spiritual guides for their children. We want to train and equip each parent to be the best they can be for their kids. What happens at church is one thing, but what happens at home -- that makes the real difference.

I share this with the whole church because even if you no longer have smaller children at home, chances are you know someone who does. I want to encourage everyone to spread the word about what we are trying to do here with KidzStreet and Bringing Faith Home.

It is our heart to see the next generation grow up with a strong spiritual relationship with their parents. Please invite all your friends with children to come and join us in this goal. Together we can celebrate our faith at church and then Bring Faith Home.
